Mt. Olympus was spun as part of a 12 days of Christmas spin along from Hilltop Katie in Wales. It is a soft soft soft water-soft blend of 70% superfine merino and 30% mullberry silk.
The 11 skeins together total approximately 7.2 ounces and 302 yards at approximately DK weight.
This skein is one of the SOFTEST THINGS YOU WILL EVER FEEL IN YOUR LIFE. So soft.
Next to skin soft! One of a kind!
This yarn is handspun. It is made centimeter by centimeter on my wheel or spindles with so much love and care. It is made in the pockets of time between the daily tasks of motherhood, sometimes a few minutes at a time and very occasionally in longer chunks. As such may have inconsistencies in grist, thick and thin spots, that are a part of its unique charm and add to the one of a kind nature of this skein. These characteristics in the yarn add charm and texture to the final piece when it is worked up in your medium of choice (I recommend knitting, crochet, or weaving!)
I generally spin from hand dyed fiber: there are no dye-lots and braids may vary slightly. Alternating skeins is recommended. Some discharge of dye in the first few washings is normal and to be expected, it can be triggered by changes in ph and mineral content of the wash and/or rinse water. I dye in my home studio using well water whose ph and mineral content varies seasonally and may be different from yours.
This skein measures over 2 yards in circumference. If you do not have a giant swift to accommodate that circumference and would prefer to have your skein caked, please message me with your order and I will cake it for you. All handspun yarns include optional winding services, free of charge.
Ships from a pet friendly, low scent, non- smoking home studio.
Every effort is made to ensure color is displayed correctly in photos, however monitors may vary.
*This listing is for yarn only, accessories not included*
