I finished my SWEATER!

And it only took a year and a half! I’m legit super proud of that timeline! Cast on in March 2024 and cast off in August 2025.

I’m going to wear it obnoxiously frequently all this winter. OMG I love it so much!

The pattern yarn is from Ritual Dyes in their Capricorn colorway on Maiden fingering (I’m a capricorn!), and the body Urth Yarns naturally dyed with Thyme on their Harvest fingering. The pattern is the Blackthorn Sweater by Wishbone Yarn.

I’ve fallen deeply in love with colorwork. It is so fun and so satisfying. Colorwork yoke sweaters though, mean that after the fun part there is still the slog of stockinette through the body and sleeves. I have my eye on all-over colorwork sweaters for my next projects!

I also learned so much about cables. I think I’d maybe never cabled before? I did the entirety of the hem using an extra circular needle as my cabling needle and it was fine. But then partway through the first sleeve, I found a pair of cable needles that I got from the studio cleanout after my weaving mentor died. And wow! Using a purpose-meant cable needle is so much nicer!

My next cast-on will actually be an all-over cabled sweater for my eldest, so that will be fun!

I’m on Ravelry @14milefarm if you hang out over there.
